Book Talk Tuesday – 101 Kids Activities

Since it’s Book Talk Tuesday I have to take this opportunity to share a book that I just got, that would be an AMAZING gift for any kid (or teacher) in your life.  If you have a child, teacher, parent of young children, early childhood education student, or teen who loves to babysit on your holiday shopping list, you need to check out 101 Kids Activities That Are the Bestest, Funnest Ever!

This book is by Holly Homer and Rachel Miller, you might know these two ladies as the team from Kids Activities Blog, which means that when it comes to writing a book about activities for kids, they are, without a doubt, the experts on the subject.

One of the things that I love about this book is that it is full of NEW ideas – which in the world of Pinterest isn’t an easy feat.  The vast majority of the projects in this book can be done with materials that you probably already have around your house (or in your classroom), so this is the perfect book for snow days and last minute activities.

For example, this one is great, and it only uses three basic supplies;Post-It Notes , Pom-Poms, and Drinking Straws.  Kids can stick the Post-It Notes on the floor to create a maze, then challenge each other to blow their pom-poms through the maze using their straws.  It couldn’t be easier, and yet, kids will think it’s a blast!

There really are 101 great activities in this book, but my absolute favorite part of each activity is when Holly and Rachel take the time to suggest how the activity can be done with children of different ages or ability levels.  This is what makes it an invaluable tool for anyone who spends time with children on a regular basis! It is a new favorite in my library, and it will be well used!
