I distinctly remember having a conferences with a parent who’s only request was the words to all of the songs that we sang in the classroom – she wanted to sing them with her son, but she couldn’t understand the words he was singing well enough to figure out what the songs were! I finally had a chance to put together a quick an easy resource that I could have shared with her, and I’m sharing it with you too. There are so many ways that this collection of common preschool songs can be used!

There are two different pieces to this set. The ribbons all have a name of a different common preschool song on them. They can be put in a jar or envelope for the children to choose one at a time, or you can choose them ahead of time and display them so that you have a solid list of songs planned for the day.

The song cards have the basic lyrics for each song. There are so many traditional songs and nursery rhymes, but it’s easy to get stuck on a few that we sing over and over. Having all of these lyrics right at your fingertips makes it easy to change things up and introduce new songs regularly. These pages can also be printed and given to families so that they can sing them all at home.

I’ve included some blank ribbons and cards so that you can add any favorites that aren’t already included – but there are nearly 40 songs included, so this will give you a good place to start! Songs are such a vital part of language development and classroom community. I hope that this resource will breathe some new energy into the singing that you’re doing in the classroom.
