Fighting Back to School Germs

My daughter has been back in school for two and a half weeks – and she’s already brought home two different rounds of germs. We’ve all been feeling it, so fighting germs is the name of the game at this point. Here are some of the strategies that I’m leaning into to help get us through it, and hopefully build up some immunity!
We’re really focusing on healthy meals. Our bodies need all the fruits, vegetables and protein that we can get to fight those germs. In addition to balanced meals, this focus is helping us work back into a more normal dinner schedule after a summer of eating at different times every night.
Another choice that we’re making to support our health is getting enough sleep. Summer is all about staying up late, which is fun – but not always the best choice for immune support. Our bodies need time to recharge, and time where they can focus on fighting any germs, sleep gives them that.
Drinking more water is strategy number three. I’m a huge believer in flushing germs out of our systems. It’s easy to drink enough water in the summer when it’s hot and we’re super active. It gets a little more challenging as the weather cools and we focus on different types of activities. Being intentional about water gives us something that we can have a little control over when it feels like everything is coming at us.
Sometimes the most effective ways to support our health are the most simple! I’ll be back later this week with some more great ways to fight those germs.
