  • Preschool Open House Resources

If we’re thinking about school supplies, then it must also be time to think about open house or back to school night. This is the kind of event that we can always tweak and improve, no matter how long we’ve been teaching. Considering things like how families are communicating right now and what information is really the most important to share is helpful every single year. Here are some of the resources that I turn to when I’m planning my year and prepping for preschool open house. • Creating a School Supply Wish List

I know, I know, we’ve hit that point in the summer where we’re closer to the start of school than we are to the end of the school year… I’m not sure how I feel about that. I’ve already bought my daughter’s school supplies, she doesn’t start until September but if I wait until then to look for school supplies, all I’ll find is Christmas decorations. One thing that I love to do is buy a few extra items to throw in for her classroom. At this point in the year things are so much cheaper, so an extra box of crayons or tissues doesn’t add to much to my…

  • Preschool School Supplies 2026

I really hate to be the one to do this BUT we’ve made it past the 4th of July, and that means it’s time to start thinking forward – to back to school season… I know, I know, we still have half of our summer break left, but over the last few years it’s become a mad dash to get the supplies as soon as they’re in the stores. In our area that was about two weeks ago. We might still have a lot of summer to soak up, but I can’t deny that it’s definitely in the back of my mind. So here are my best tips for preschool…

  • School Year Germs

    Fighting Back to School Germs

My daughter has been back in school for two and a half weeks – and she’s already brought home two different rounds of germs. We’ve all been feeling it, so fighting germs is the name of the game at this point. Here are some of the strategies that I’m leaning into to help get us through it, and hopefully build up some immunity! We’re really focusing on healthy meals. Our bodies need all the fruits, vegetables and protein that we can get to fight those germs. In addition to balanced meals, this focus is helping us work back into a more normal dinner schedule after a summer of eating at…

  • Back to School Teacher Gift

    Teacher Gifts 2025

I’m so excited about how this year’s teacher gifts turned out! Even the gift wrap is adorable – if I may say so myself. I scooped up this apple fabric when our local JoAnn Fabrics was clearing out all of it’s stock. I knew that it could make me many years worth of teacher gifts, or something cute for my daughter’s traditional first day of school apple outfit. The zip pouches are quilted and have a red picnic-blanket patterned lining. It all comes together – quite literally – with a red zipper. To wrap them up I grabbed some plain white gift bags at the Dollar Tree. With a ruler…

  • Back to School Products 2025

There are a few items that I’ve really been leaning on this year, especially to make the back to school season a little easier. I thought I’d share them here – all links are affiliates. Hatch Rest+ – This has made a huge difference in how we wake up in the morning. We originally bought it to help my daughter stay in bed a little longer as a toddler. As she’s transitioned to elementary school and needing an alarm clock it’s been a more gentle kind of alarm clock. Happy Planner – I’ve become a true convert, I love my Happy Planner. Being able to add pages anywhere means that…

Friday Freebie – A gift for new kindergarten families

I designed this First Day of Kindergarten gift to give to my preschoolers and their families when they head to Kindergarten for the first time, but it is also perfect for Kindergarten teachers to share with families at back to school night, or on the morning of the very first day. The freebie includes notes to families in a variety of colors, a list of things to include in the treat bag (which correspond with the note), and a template for little felt hearts.  The note explains that the parent gets a felt heart to keep in their pocket, and so does the child, this way if they feel lonely throughout the…
