How our Family Celebrates Valentine’s Day

    January 30, 2026 /

Our family truly loves Valentine’s Day. Over the years we’ve created meaningful traditions that feel like a natural fit and celebrate who we are as a family. We do all of this without spending a ton of money, and right now that feels like something to celebrate. So what does a frugal family Valentine’s Day look like? One of our favorite parts of any holiday is baking for others. Cookies have become a favorite gift to make because we get to use our talents and time to show others that we care. Making and decorating holiday cookies is something that I always loved doing with my mom, and now my…

    Organization Hacks for Busy Days

    January 19, 2026 /

Usually January is a bit of a relief – a slower pace after the holiday bustle. I’m not sure what happened this year, but for some reason our calendar is EXPLODING with events, practices, meetings, and rehearsals. Managing all of this is a challenge. We’re running from one event to another, squeezing in work and homework where we can. I’ve definitely been leaning into my tried and true organization hacks to help things run a little more smoothly. • Finding Joy in the Winter

    January 14, 2026 /

On Monday I shared tips for surviving the winter in the classroom. We can go a bit further today and think about ways to really bring joy into your daily moments even when it’s cold and gray outside. The words winter and joy don’t always go together for me. I can definitely find that joy in December when everything is lit up for the holidays and I’m excited about the first snowflakes, but by the time we get into January and February it all feels bleak and dreary. There are a few things that I can always count on to spark that joy and wonder though. The first things that…

    Surviving Winter in the Classroom

    January 12, 2026 /

These winter months are always the most difficult for me, and I know I’m not alone in that. January 9, 2026 /

January is flying by! That’s kind of unusual – I feel like January typically draaaaaaaags on after the bustle of the holidays. This may be the busiest our family’s calendar has ever been in January so that’s definitely part of it. This year is going to be full of so much joy, here’s a little of what I’m looking forward to: My daughter is 8 and she’s truly become this person with all of her own interests and she’s doing the things that light her up. It’s wild to watch! She landed a role in our high school’s musical, is getting to perform in ice shows a couple of times…
