    Designing and building leprechaun traps has become one of our favorite traditions. I think the planning and creating is just as much fun as the anticipation of seeing if they’ll actually catch anything!     We had a snow day this week! As a teacher, that’s always welcome – as a parent it’s a bit of a scramble to find things to keep my girl busy all day.   • Ideas for observing clouds

    Yesterday I shared some questions to ask that might inspire a cloud investigation. Today I wanted to share a couple of ways that you can have the children document their observations. I should start with this warning: you can’t really put these activities on your lesson plan because you have to wait for a day when you actually have clouds to observe.   • Exploring Knowledge Creatively

    During our preparations for Valentine’s Day, we have also begun our class project for the semester with some very basic discussion of tornadoes.  The boys are fascinated, and when I was finally able to get out our tornado tube they dropped everything and worked with it for an entire afternoon.
