A Blog Post about Blog Posts
I know that’s quite the title for a post, but it’s the best way I can think to describe what I want to share here! I’ve been thinking a lot about how I can use this space to support those of you are serving so many different roles in the early care and education field – especially those of you who are childcare professionals. I love sharing fun posts about activities, projects, and printables – but these are the easy things. There are so many great ideas already available, and to be honest I know that coming up with things to do with children isn’t the hardest part of the work that we do. The hard parts are all of those things that take away from spending quality time teaching our youngest learners.
I’m going to make sure that at least one of my posts every week really digs into the pieces that truly make everyday a challenge – things like managing behaviors, engaging families, finding time for screenings and assessments, fulfilling regulations and quality improvement standards, securing funding or materials, understanding how trauma impacts students and teachers, and ways to build professionalism and earn respect. These are what makes this field a profession, and we talk about them all the time, but we don’t often find really good strategies that help with them. Hopefully I’ll be able to do just that. Look for these posts, I’ll organize them all with the tag #hardstuff, and while you’re waiting send me the topics that you’d really like to hear about!
