DIY Art Supply Kit

I’ve been looking at art supply kits like this one, and this one, for months. I love the idea of them – all of those great supplies right at your fingertips! It definitely makes creativity feel easy and inviting. Plus, everything is easy to access, which means that children can use it independently and I’m not using my precious time finding and opening supplies. I haven’t been able to pull the trigger because every kit that I find includes one or two things that I don’t need or want. So I finally took matters into my own hands and put together a DIY art supply kit.
I started with an easy-open cardboard box (shout-out to Plum Paper for sending my last planner in the best box ever). This got a quick makeover with some stickers to make it even more enticing.
Then I gathered the supplies. I included some materials that I already had, some new things, and some items that can be re-used or upcycled.
The best thing about creating your own kit is that you can really tailor it to your children – the materials they like to use, what will interest them most, and their age and experience levels. It also makes it easy to restock materials as they get used, because you don’t necessarily have to replace them with the same things each time. I can’t wait to pull this out and see what they create first!
