Gifts for Preschoolers 2024
Preschoolers really start to have opinions about what they want for Christmas, which can make the holidays feel a little more expensive. They’re also still at an age when they can surprise you with how much they love a completely random gift. My favorite tip when shopping for preschoolers is to gift them things that they can DO. They really like to be busy, but they still have pretty short attention spans, so a variety of quick and easy activities will be appreciated by kids and parents. Here are my picks for 2024 (all links are affiliates).
STEM Board Game – This game requires some thought and attention (both very important for preschoolers to practice!), but it also offers immediate feedback and concrete cause and affect examples to learn from. Children place different pieces on the board and see how their vehicles navigate the space that they create. How cool!
Crayola Holiday Magnetic Tiles – I’m a huge fan of Magnetic Tiles and this collaboration with Crayola could not be better. One side of each tile is designed like piece of a gingerbread house, while the other side is basically a dry erase board that kids can design and re-design over and over using the included markers. There are hours of fun in this box.
95 Piece Animal Toy Set – All of the animals a kid could ever want are in this awesome set. I love these little figurines because they can easily be taken on the go. They’re perfect for restaurants, waiting rooms, and in the car, but they can also be used to set up giant animal wonderlands at home for extended play. They’re inexpensive, so it isn’t a huge deal if one gets misplaced, but they’ll still provide so much joy.
Search and Find Activity Mats – This set of 10 double-sided mats are packed with search and find pictures and laminated so that children can use the included dry erase marker to circle images as they find them. It’s sure to keep preschoolers busy while they practice visual discrimination, spatial awareness, and focus.
Bright Explorer Light Box Set – This is my favorite idea on the whole list! It’s a mini light table and it comes with ALL of the best accessories – black line cards and colored shapes to fill in the pictures, translucent plastic bugs and tweezers, and a clear bin for the top so it can be used as a sensory or water table too. So many scientific discoveries can take place with this one gift.
Play Dough 65 Pack – You truly can never have too much Play Dough. This giant pack of mini containers is the absolute best because children can mix and match the endless colors into any possible creation. It also includes sparkle and confetti Play Dough for even more fun.
Hoyle Card Game Set – Preschoolers can begin to comprehend basic games and follow the rules, so this is the perfect time to introduce card games that can be fun for the whole family. This set, from iconic brand Hoyle, includes Go Fish, Slap Jack, Matching, Old Maid, Crazy 8s, and Memory. Each game also includes instructions, just in case you need a refresher.
Stencil Drawing Set – There is something about stencils that just really draw preschoolers in. They love that they can draw exactly what they want every single time. This set includes 20 thick, quality stencils with 370 different shapes – that’s a lot of beautiful artwork. It also comes with a sketchpad, colored pencils, scissors, and stickers to really round out the artistic experience. Best of all, there’s a container included to keep everything corralled when not in use.
Bluey Book Set – We are huge Bluey fans in our house. It’s one of those children shows that I truly don’t mind watching over and over again because there are little nuggets of humor for parents in there too. The 10 books in this set are all based on favorite episodes, making them easy for parents to read and kids to enjoy. In many cases, even children who can’t read yet will still be able to retell the story from their memory of the episode.
Snip Snip Cutting Craft Set – This set was designed to make scissor practice feel like fun. Forget cutting lines across multiple sheets of paper, these activities encourage children to use their scissors to create bright and colorful 3D pictures, puppets, and other projects. Choose from 4 different themed sets to really personalize the experience.
Paper Craft Set – This set is a parent’s dream! Not only does it include every item needed to complete each craft (no more tracking down a random paper plate or cardboard tube!), each set of supplies is organized into a file for that specific activity, and each activity comes with a picture instruction card. It could not be easier to craft and create. I’m ALL for open-ended creative experiences, but sometimes kids just want to “make something” and need a little more structure. This set allows children to choose what they want to make and have all of the materials right at their fingertips.
