Recharging During Christmas Break

Have you ever gotten to the end of a vacation or break from work and felt like it was more of a marathon?! This is supposed to be the time of year when we all get a much needed break, but it’s very easy to spend the time going and never stop. Here are my tried and true tips for making sure that you take the time to rest and recharge.

  1. Schedule it! Set aside time for relaxing and stick to it. This can be anything from making an appointment for a massage to a night out with friends or quiet time to read a book. Whatever it is that really helps you feel rested, put it on the calendar.
  2. Enlist others for support. Seriously, if you need someone to watch your kids so that you can take some time for yourself then ask for help! Swap play dates with other families, ask a family member or take advantage of winter break camps or community events.
  3. Identify your needs. Does your body need a break, or is it your mind? How do you find energy? Choose activities that support you and your current needs, not ones that are on a random list somewhere.
  4. Turn off the tech. Step away and spend some time unconnected. This doesn’t have to be the entire break or even a full day, but giving yourself to read a book, watch a movie, or go for a drive without your phone can really change the way you feel!

What do you do to make sure you get that rest you so deserve?!
