Easy Alphabet Match Activity
I posted September’s Month of Preschool pack last week and wanted to share a sample activity with you! This has been one of my favorite easy activities for years because it is so low prep and can be used so many different ways. Print and laminate these and offer a variety of different letter manipulatives that children can match (alphabet pasta, cereal, pretzels, small letter magnets, erasers, or paper cut-outs). Alphabet Practice with Balloons
The easiest, most simple activities tend to be the ones that always fascinate my students. So it should come as no surprise that this alphabet activity is one of their all-time favorites. The concept is ridiculously simple, I just blow up a bunch of balloons (ideally at least one per child) and use a permanent marker to write a different letter on each balloon. Then I turn on some music and we hit the balloons around, trying to keep them from touching the floor. When the music stops each child has to catch a balloon, and tell me what letter is on their balloon. We repeat this until they…

Friday Freebie – Halloween Alphabet Game
Happy Friday! I know many of you are celebrating Halloween today or over the weekend, but for those of you who are waiting until Monday I have the perfect last minute game for you today. We made it to Memorial Day weekend! This is definitely cause for celebration, and I’ve got another reason to celebrate – I’m presenting at the OAEYC Conference in Sandusky Ohio today. An Easy Letter Activity for Preschool
I got to sub in a preschool classroom last week and the students were using my very first blog freebie. It’s still a great little freebie, bit it really needed an update – so I gave it one, and you can download the new version here! These are perfect for all kinds of letter recognition activities. I like to use them with letter pasta and have the children place the correct letter noodle in the box below the letter. I’ve also seen them used with letter beads, foam letters, and letter stamps. Sensory Alphabet Letters
Last year my class made sensory letters that smelled like chocolate. The kids thought they were fun to make and use for other projects. They were really easy to do and I’m going to tell you how so you can try it too! I cut cardboard rectangles and wrote a letter on each piece of cardboard. Then my kiddos traced the letters with glue (we used the glue bottles, but you could use a cup of glue and a q-tip). I took cocoa powder and mixed in it with cornstarch because cocoa powder…

Using letter manipulatives in the classroom
Yesterday I showed you the cute alphabet letters that I made with Perler beads, and today I want to share some of the ways that I plan on using these in the classroom. These ideas can also be done with any letter manipulatives or magnet letters that you already have, so you don’t need to make the Perler bead letters (but they are really easy to do!).
