  • My Favorite Teaching Quote

I’ve shared this quote here before, but it’s always worth sharing again! This is my all-time favorite teaching quote because it helps me keep my priorities straight and remember to follow the children’s lead.  I always tell the teacher I work with that you should be able to learn as much from your students as your students learn from you, and this quote is a constant reminder of that! • Your daily dose of inspiration

I was looking for something completely different on Pinterest and this quote was in my search results. This. Is. It. This is why I do what I do, this is what keeps me going every single day, and I’m so glad that someone (source) figured out the words to use to explain how I feel, so of course, I had to share it. I love this because it isn’t specific to working with young children. I love working with teachers as much as I love working with little ones and this quote fits both of those pieces of my job.  This one is going up in my office so that…

  • A little Christmas Magic

Whether you’re already on break, or spending a couple more days in the classroom, here are some quotes from one of my favorite holiday movies to help get you in the mood to share the magic of the Christmas season.   From Jalipeno From Vollzgirlz From Stephanie Spence  Watching the Polar Express always makes me feel like a little kid, and it gives me perspective – we can believe whatever we want! That is truly the magic of the season.  What are your favorite Holiday movie quotes?

  • When Educators believe in each other

Have you seen the TED talk by the amazing Ms. Rita Pierson.  It is powerful.  She puts into words every single reason that most of us became teachers in the first place. This quote from her talk hits me to the core every single time that I read it; I fully believe that every child needs a person in their corner.  A person who tells them they’re worth it, they can be great, and do amazing things.  A self-fulfilling prophecy can be a powerful thing, when you tell someone that they are incredible enough times, they start to believe you. I will give that to any child in a heartbeat.…

  • Wisdom for the overwhelmed

I try to keep my posts at least somewhat related to preschool, but we are all multifaceted individuals, and the things that are on my mind at the moment have nothing to do with school.  This fall is a bit overwhelming for me personally – My sister and my husbands brother are both getting married within a month of each other, and in between those two events I also have two big marketing events for school, oh yeah, and I’ll be speaking at the NAEYC Conference in Dallas (Eeeek!).  All of these events are awesome, but there is a lot of prep on my end, and I’m already feeling like…

  • Finding Balance

I really needed this long weekend. I mean I REALLY needed it.  This weekend I was able to take the time to find myself again.  Though I didn’t go on a trip or do anything exceptionally spectacular, I did get to do some of my favorite things.  I wandered the fabric store, spent tons of time with my family, read a book, ate lots of ice cream, laid out in the sun, roasted marshmallows with my favorite people, and slept in! It has been far too long since I’ve made time for these things that mean so much to me. Over the last six months I have completely given myself…
