  • 3 Words

This is an interesting challenge: What 3 words describe you as a teacher? I really had to sit and think about this for a while, the words that immediately popped into my mind as far as adjectives that are generally used to describe me didn’t really seem to fit when I apply them to myself as a teacher – which is interesting in itself.  Here are the three words that I finally came up with: 1. Observant.  Not only did I regularly observe my students to gauge their interests and assess their level of understanding, I was also incredibly observant of their behaviors and emotions. If there was something going…

  • Friday Freebie – Reflection Checklist

Happy Friday! I’ve shared a lot of information and ideas relating to documentation this week, and today’s freebie fits right in. This Reflection Checklist is one of my favorite products that I’ve ever made for the classroom.  It has been helpful in so many ways.  It makes it easy to collect your thoughts at the end of the day, while continuing to track any patterns and make sure that you are taking note of important events.  Not only does it help you document what happened that day, but it gives you a couple of minutes dedicated to really reflecting on what all of it means.  Download your copy and print a…

  • Daily Reflection Calendars for Preschool

I scored some great freebies at the NAEYC Annual Conference, so of course, I have to do something cute with them! I have wanted to turn my daily calendar routine into an opportunity for reflection for quite some time, and I think I finally found a way to do it. This daily tear off calendar (a freebie from Lakeshore Learning Materials) has lines so that you can write on each page. I tore the calendar into sections (grouped by month), punched a hole in the pages with myWe R Memory Keepers Crop-A-Dile II Big Bite Punch, and put each month on a binder ring.  I plan to ask my students…

  • Freebie Friday

It’s Friday! This week I am especially excited because we are finally going to get away. We are going camping this weekend, with our usual camping buddies – my sister, her fiance, and our two closest friends.  We are only going about an hour from home, but it is on the lake shore, and on tomorrow we get to go to Put-in-Bay. If you aren’t familiar with Put-in-Bay, it’s also been called the Key West of the Great Lakes, so the atmosphere makes it feel like we are far from home. I’m looking forward to exploring island wineries, hanging out around the campfire, and laughing a lot! Today’s freebie is…
