Preschool Teacher Wardrobe – Summer Edition

It can be really hard to find those outfits that are the perfect balance of professional, comfortable, and meet all of the needs of a preschool teacher (getting messy, sitting on the floor, lots of movement – you know what I mean). This is especially true in the summer. Summer means even more time outside, higher temperatures, and often running to other activities at the end of your work day. Every program is different, and that will of course mean you may have restrictions related to things like shorts, sleeveless tops, and dresses – but hopefully the items that I’ve been loving will give you some inspiration for your own summer teacher wardrobe!
RBX Capri Leggings – these are my all-time favorite leggings. The active fabric makes them a little cooler and helps them look nicer longer. They also have pockets, which is basically a requirement for me. I wear leggings, or these bike shorts under all of my dresses so I never have to worry about how I’m moving.
Croft and Barrow Open Cardigan – This cardigan is so soft, and comes in 7 different colors! It’s really common for it to be cool in the morning and super hot by the middle of the day, so being able to layer is necessary. I live with one of these cardigans near me at all times.
T-Shirt Maxi Dress – This is literally the perfect dress. It’s loose and flowy, but not sloppy, and the short sleeves make it appropriate for nearly any event. It can be dressed up or down, and it comes in an endless number of colors and patterns. A maxi dress makes it so much easier to be on the floor with the children too!
Tiered Sleeveless Dress – This is definitely my favorite dress for this summer. It’s light and flowy, and it’s just one of those outfits that always looks good. This is another one that can easily be dressed up or down, and works great for after-work events or the classroom on those super hot days. Definitely add bike shorts underneath because it tends to get caught in the wind.
Old Navy Linen Shorts – I love these shorts, I would buy them in absolutely every color if I could. They pull on, are super soft, and could not be more comfortable – but they look nice! Anything that feels like sweats and passes as a pulled together look is a win in my book.
Simply Vera Wang Pleated Tank – A good tank is a must. This one wins because it looks dressing, is light and airy, and long enough to be appropriate for the classroom. Plus, it comes in 14 different colors and patterns.
Chambray Button Down – I treat these like cardigans, and I could not love them more. This one comes in 25 different colors and patterns. My favorite thing about chambray is that it looks better with every wash, and in this job you’ll be washing it a lot, so it’s a perfect match.
