Crafty Hobbies to Explore

I firmly believe that everyone needs a few great hobbies – these are the things that make us who we are! I’ve always been super crafty and creative, and I love to have materials available to make things with my hands at all times. Here are some of the hobbies that I’ve been really into lately.
Cross stitch – I learned to cross stitch as a kid and have picked it up again as an adult. I’ve found that I really appreciate smaller projects because they travel easily and I can finish them in a short amount of time. The supplies for this particular art form are also super affordable, I can get embroidery floss, a hoop, needles, and some cross stitch fabric for around $10.
Bracelet making – I recently started making bracelets with glass beads and waxed cords (like Pura Vida bracelets). Again, the supplies are inexpensive and I can make a bracelet in about 10 minutes. this makes it an easy project that I can squeeze into any part of my day.
Sewing – I’ve always loved to sew and I used to make large quilts regularly, but it’s been hard to find large amounts of time to quilt when my daughter wants all of my attention. Lately I’ve been making a lot of quilted zipper pouches instead. I can dedicate a couple of hours a month to some me time for sewing.
Sourdough – A friend gifted me some starter and sourdough supplies for Christmas and after about 4 months of exploring and learning I’m finally feeling really confident about the process. I try to make two loaves a week and we love having fresh sourdough anytime.
Reading – I read a ton as a kid, and now that my daughter has to spend a certain amount of time reading for school I’ve really gotten into it again so that I can read at the same time. I love a good romance novel, mystery, or historical fiction, and I’ve been taking full advantage of my local library.
These are all affordable hobbies that can be done in short amounts of time, and the supplies are fairly inexpensive. I’ve really appreciated being able to feel like I have my own things to lose myself in every now and then.
