Finding Motivation

Motivation is not a constant thing – it comes and goes, and usually not when we want it to! I often find myself lacking the motivation to really dive into a project. When this happens, the most helpful thing is to ask myself why. Why am I resisting whatever needs to be done? At the beginning of the school year my answer is almost always that I’m burnt out from the summer! Summer is the time where I give myself to my family fully, so I often need a little “me time” once everyone is back into a more normal school mode. I’ve learned not to fight this, I give myself permission to take the time I need. Once I’ve taken some time for myself, I lean into whatever project needs done. I try to tackle the pieces that interest me most first, so that I can begin to build that motivation, effectively faking it until I make it. What works for you when the motivation just isn’t there?
