Preschool Rain Activities

preschool rain

We’re definitely still in snow season, but I’m manifesting spring for sure! One thing I can count on during spring is a solid stretch of rain. The best way I’ve found to make it through all of those rainy days is to absolutely embrace them. There are so many fun ways to learn about rain – here are some of my favorite rainy preschool activities.

  • Make rain gauges and use them to measure rainfall – watch them fill up outside classroom windows or send them home with the children and have them track rain amounts to compare and contrast
  • Draw pictures with washable markers and see what happens when you lay them out in the rain
  • Make a cloud in a jar using hot water and ice cubes
  • Read Drop to learn about the water cycle (affiliate link)
  • Observe classroom windows and draw what they look like when it’s raining outside
  • Use weather radar to track a rainstorm across the local area
  • Record weather data and analyze all of the collected information to form a hypothesis
  • Use eyedroppers and blue watercolors to create rain paintings

On Friday I’ll share all of the rain-themed resources I’ve created over the years, so be sure to check back in then!
