Welcome to Preschool!
My co-teacher and I found out today that we would be teaching pPreschool starting this semester (3 weeks!). We are so used to our toddler classroom that we are a bit overwhelmed with all of the new possibilities and procedures to learn, but we are excited to try something new, and we consider ourselves lucky to get to work with a great group of children.
All of the changes are sure to bring some new learning experiences, so I’ve decided that blogging about them will not only allow me to share them with you, but will also help me to appreciate how far we have come.
I also plan on including lesson plan ideas, special events and activities, and probably a few complaints here and there!
Let’s start with the basics: I work for a Reggio-inspired child care center and a lot of our work is based on the project approach. We are a labratory school on a college campus, so not only do we emply full-time teachers, we also have student workers, and lab students who are a part of our everyday activities. The children at our center range in age from 6 weeks to 5 years, and we have one infant room, two toddler rooms, and three preschool rooms.
I’ve been teaching toddlers for the last two years, so switching to preschool is going to be a transition for myself, my co-teacher, and the children in our classroom, wish us luck, I’ll keep you posted! Any tips on moving a classroom would be greatly appreciated!
