Celebrating Student Birthdays

I’m a huge proponent of recognizing student birthdays. I know that all families do not celebrate birthdays in the same way, but in my classroom this is one way to help children feel valued and important. It’s a way to build that classroom community and acknowledge that we all bring something special. Over the years trends have definitely changed when it comes to recognizing birthdays in the classroom, but here are the things that I’m loving to share with students on their big days right now ( all links are afifliates)>
- Birthday badges – Something a child can wear all day long and take home with them. THat says it all for me!
- Birthday headband – If this doesn’t scream “It’s my birthday!” then I don’t know what does. I love these.
- Birthday pencils – One word: Useful. Need I say more?!
- Birthday necklaces – It doesn’t get easier, and these are something that every kid can enjoy.
- 3D Printed wiggle animals – These are my daughter’s current favorite reward to get from a teacher. I can’t tell you how much extra credit homework she’s done to get a little 3D printed animal. Use what works!
