  • Friday Freebie – Leaf Charts

Happy Friday! I shared a bunch of great leaf activities with you this week, and I wanted to share a leaf freebie to go along with them, but I couldn’t find one that I liked. So I made a new one! This brand new leaf documentation set includes three charts that you can use to record and document all of the work that the children do relating to leaves. There’s a page for recording new vocabulary words, a KWL chart, and a page for writing down conversations that you have with the children about leaves.  Download them and print as many as you’d like!

  • Leaf Activities

When I saw these giant leaf cut outs from Oriental Trading, I had to have them. I didn’t really have a plan for them, but I was pretty sure I’d figure something out.  Let me just say, I was really impressed with what I received – the images are great quality and the set included 48 leaf cut outs, so I had a ton of leaves to work with.  While I was trying to figure out the best thing to do with all of them I came up with a long list of ideas, so I decided that instead of sharing just one or two, I’d give you the whole…

  • Preschool activities do to with leaves

One of my favorite fall activities to do with preschoolers is to collect leaves.  I give each child a grocery bag and we go on a nice long walk to make sure that we pass a variety of trees and we try to get leaves of all shapes, colors, and sizes.  We have some really great conversations during our walk; we try to decide which leaves have fallen from which trees, and we watch squirrels collect acorns and bury them for the winter. After we collect as many leaves as we can we take them back to the classroom we start exploring.  Here are some great activities that you can…

  • Friday Freebie – Leaf Patterning

Happy Friday! Somehow it’s already the second week in September, and because of the strange weather we’ve had this summer, our leaves have already started to change.  Nothing like messing with my seasons! This freebie is a cute patterning activity that uses different colored leaves.  This would be a great center or a fun activity to send home for families to work on together.  Download your copy here and enjoy your weekend!

  • Friday Freebie – Leaves

Yay for Friday! I’ve been looking forward to this particular Friday for months because I have the day off to attend my Brother-in-law’s wedding.  I am so excited to spend the long weekend celebrating with family and great friends (and it just so happens to be taking places in one of my favorite places to visit – Ohio’s Amish Country – so bring on the baked goods!). To celebrate, I’m sharing two freebies with you today! The first is a really cute leaf silhouette match from Totschooling.  This is a great activity even for the youngest children, they have to look at the colored leaf cards and see if they…

  • Book talk Tuesday – We’re Going on a Leaf Hunt

Today I'm linking up with Mrs. Jump's Class for Book talk Tuesday. Every year, this book finds a permanent place on my classroom bookshelf for the entire autumn season. My students love Going on a Leaf Hunt by Steve Metzger.   This book is perfect for preschoolers because it takes a story that they are already familiar with, and gives it an autumn twist. They are easily able to retell the story to themselves or each other after hearing me read it a few times. The pictures are also colorful, attractive and very descriptive. Books like this give young readers confidence in their beginning skills, making reading fun.  I also love that it names…
