Amazing Conferences for Early Childhood Educators
I’ve mentioned before that I consider myself a professional development nerd. There is just something about a room full of teachers learning new things that I can’t resist. One of my favorite things to do is attend a great conference, and if you’ve followed this blog for a while you’ve certainly seen my posts from the NAEYC conference. Right now is the perfect time to start researching upcoming conferences and planning for those that you’d like to attend. Many local AEYC conferences happen in the spring, there are all kinds of specialty conferences throughout the summer, and the big one – NAEYC is in the fall. If you start planning…

Conference Prep – What I’m taking
I’ve been to quite a few conferences, and they’re all a bit different, but my experience has given me a list of things that are necessities for every conference. Here’s what I take with me; An extra tote bag – you never know when one of your sessions will have freebies or giveaways, and the expo hall is always full of fun samples and there’s never an easy way to carry all of it. This tote from Ikea is perfect because it folds into a little pouch so I can throw it into my purse until I need it. A water bottle – I’m cheap, there, I said it. I…

It’s NAEYC Week!
The NAEYC Nation Conference is this week in Orlando and I’ll be there, will you?! This is the third time that I’ve gone to the conference and I love love love spending time learning from all of these amazing ECE professionals (and the Expo hall is fun too). NAEYC is at the forefront of developments in Early Childhood Education, and as an educator and someone who educated other teachers, it is incredibly important to me to know where NAEYC stands. I find myself turning to their position statements all of the time to give direction to my own work. You can find them using the following link, the information is…

Happy NAEYC Conference Kick off day! I thought I’d do a quick write up about the sessions that have grabbed my attention, but let’s be real, it won’t be quick, it’ll probably be really long, because there are so many! Before we get into that I want to tell you what else I’m doing to celebrate. For the rest of the week all of my Portfolios and Assessments are 20% off! So if you are looking for ideas for portfolios, or new assessments, please take a minute to see what I’ve got, they are all standards-based and so helpful! Ok, so here are the session that I’m most interested in.…

NAEYC Here I Come!
I feel like I have been preparing for this week forever, and now that it’s finally here I am beyond ready to get this show on the road! I’m leaving for Dallas and the NAEYC National Conference on Wednesday, and I have a ton of great things planned that I can’t wait to share with you! My posts this week might be up a little later than usual, but that’s because I really want to share things as they happen. Wednesday night I’ll have the highlights of the Expo Hall (yay for freebies and getting to play with awesome new products!). On Thursday I’ll share some info from the sessions…

Friday Freebie – Tech Ebook
It’s Friday! The freebie that I’m sharing with you today is one that I’m really excited about, mostly because I’ve put a ton of hours into it. I created this Tech Resources E-book for my upcoming NAEYC Conference Presentation, and I want to share it with the entire world. This book is full of clickable links and icons that will lead you to websites that I promise will make your job easier. There are sites where you can create a class blog, share info and photos with families, and collaborate with other teachers. I’ve also included links to my favorite blogs, Pinterest boards, and websites for creating amazing displays and…

Countdown to the NAEYC Conference
I am so excited about this year’s NAEYC Conference. I attended my first NAEYC conference in 2010 and fell in love with the whole experience. I love the sessions, I love the expo hall, I love meeting teachers from all over the country, and I love love love traveling with my favorite teachers! This year is especially important for me because I get to present. I love public speaking (I know, I’m weird), and giving teachers new ideas that makes their jobs easier is just about my favorite thing, so I am super pumped (I mentioned that I’m excited right). I got my badge in the mail this weekend and…
