DIY Art Supply Kit
*This post contains affiliate links* I’ve been looking at art supply kits like this one, and this one, for months. I love the idea of them – all of those great supplies right at your fingertips! It definitely makes creativity feel easy and inviting. Plus, everything is easy to access, which means that children can use it independently and I’m not using my precious time finding and opening supplies. I haven’t been able to pull the trigger because every kit that I find includes one or two things that I don’t need or want. So I finally took matters into my own hands and put together a DIY art supply…

Organizing Supplies for Learning
You know that I’ve been prepping for summer, and part of that has included taking stock of our supply situation and making sure these are organized and as useful and accessible as possible. It’s really important to me that we’re continuing to learn – but I also want to spend as much time outside as possible. Having a way to use these materials outside is kind of a requirement, and I was struggling to come up with the best possible solution. Enter Ikea. Wandering through Ikea, my eyes landed on this organizer tray and I immediately thought “what can I do with that?” I stared at it for a bit,…

Summer in the classroom
There are so many different kinds of summer child care and preschool program situations – so it’s impossible to generalize one “right” way to do summer in the classroom. In my own personal experience, I’ve always worked for full-year, full-day childcare programs. our summers typically look exactly like the rest of the year, but summer always FEELS different. I like to embrace that and really do my best to incorporate the very best parts of summer into the classroom. For me, this has always included a little less structure and a lot more time outside. Now don’t get me wrong, we still do a ton of learning! It just feels…

Summer Clipart!
I’ve really been into creative projects lately, and I’m taking full advantage of this while working on my summer clipart collections! I use these for my monthly planner spreads, but they would truly work for anything that you might use clipart for. I’ve also been using some of the images to update my seasonal classroom resources and it’s so fun to see my own images in these. Here’s what I’ve added to my clipart section for the next couple of months: The lemonade stand set is just sunny and happy – it doesn’t get much more “summertime” than this! There’s a bit of a party vibe and it all makes…

A Quick Update
You know that I’m prepping for summer, and that means switching my work schedule up a bit. I’m taking this week to make those changes and get everything ready to move forward. What that means is that you won’t see any new blog posts here this week, but next week I’ll be back in full force!

Summer Plans!
This summer is going to look very different for our family – it’ll be the first summer that my girl and I will be home together all summer long. The idea of giving her a fun summer while I’m still working stresses me out a bit, so I took some time to do the one thing that always puts my mind at ease, some serious planning! If someone asked me to choose ONE word to describe myself it would definitely be the word “planner.” I truly love to organize my thoughts, lay them out on paper and fill in any missing pieces. It helps me feel in control and gives…

Graduation Gifts for Little Graduates
There are so many incredible ideas out there when it comes to gifts for High School and College graduates – but what do you get for the little graduates in your lives? Preschool and Kindergarten graduates definitely don’t need money to furnish a dorm or apartment, they don’t need tech to support their next educational steps, or frames and photo albums to store all of their school memories. There are still meaningful graduation gifts that you can give these little ones to help them celebrate this major milestone! My favorite idea is a memory book that they can complete and keep with their preschool or kindergarten keepsakes. This is something…

Celebrating my own creativity
I’ve always considered myself to be a creative person, it’s something that I recognized at a very early age. As an adult, I spend the vast majority of my time creating things for other people – which I truly love to do. But I’ve realized that I don’t do a lot of creating just to enjoy the artistic process. I’m about to change that! I gathered some tools that I enjoy using, and bought a new sketch book (there’s just something about all of those blank pages)/ Now I’m giving myself permission to take time losing myself in the creative process. I can’t wait to share what I come up…

The Cutest DIY Graduation Cap!
We’ve gotten through the Easter holiday, and that usually means one thing – it’s time to nail down some details for preschool graduation. This is always one of the most bittersweet milestones. It’s such an honor to send little ones onto preschool and celebrate all of the growth that has happened over the past year (and often longer if they’ve been in your program for a while), but saying goodbye can be hard! Graduation caps are such an iconic piece of this celebration, and you know I’m a huge fan of the DIY. I’ve perfected the technique and I’m loving the idea of personalizing these diy graduation caps so that…
