    Preschool Field Day Games

Field day is a much loved end of the year tradition – it signals summer and warm weather! Children look forward to the opportunity to spend extra time outside playing games with their friends and teachers. Keeping them active and engaged is key to a successful preschool field day. That means finding the right combination of games that are both fun for little ones and fairly simple to set up and run for teachers and parent volunteers. This comprehensive list of game ideas gives tons of options so that you can rotate through them over multiple years! What else would you add?!

End of the Year Preschool Activities

We’re deep in the “Maycember” season over here! I’m all about this recognition that May includes a lot of different things, graduations, assessments, parties, finishing projects and investigations, and looking towards the following year (on top of Mother’s day and Memorial day). There are a few different resources that I have leaned on every single year at this time, so I thought they might make your life a little easier too. Here are my favorite materials for the end of the school year. I’ll have an in-depth look at my Kindergarten prep materials later this week, but this is my absolute favorite resource to share with families. Every parent wants…

    Last Day of School Traditions

Our last day of school is tomorrow! When my daughter was in kindergarten the last day of school rolled around and I realized that I hadn’t planned for any fun traditions. For me, someone who LOVES holidays and celebrations, this was a massive problem. I quickly came up with a couple of things that work well for us and have been things my girl really looks forward to. Here are our last day of school traditions. I try to keep mornings the same – throwing a special breakfast or activity into our well-oiled routine would throw the whole day off. My daughter’s school always does a half day for their…

End of the School Year Memories

The last couple of days of the school year always feel so hard to plan for – There isn’t really time to accomplish anything, and the learning has been accomplished, but you have to do something! I created this End of the Year Memory Book to give us something to work on together as we revisit all of the fun from the entire year. The great thing about this book is that it’s truly customizable. Each child can complete their own, or the class can do one together as a group with discussions about each prompt, Children can write or draw their answers, or do a combination of both. The…

  • Summer Transition

Wrapping up a year of preschool

It’s the season to think about that transition from the school year into summer. Whether your program has a hard end date, or you’re with your student all summer long, it’s helpful to really think through how you want to support children through this. Children who will go to kindergarten next year often have the benefit of preparing for graduation, and the actual graduation celebration to signify the change. With younger children who are going to continue at the same program next year, they’ve still accomplished something – they’ve finished a year of preschool! giving them a celebration to recognize this can be one great way to help make the…

    Easy DIY Graduation Cap

Preschool Graduation is always one of the most bittersweet milestones. It’s such an honor to send little ones onto preschool and celebrate all of the growth that has happened over the past year (and often longer if they’ve been in your program for a while), but saying goodbye can be hard! Graduation caps are such an iconic piece of this celebration, and you know I’m a huge fan of the DIY. I’ve perfected the technique and I’m loving the idea of personalizing these diy graduation caps so that families walk away with a beautiful keepsake. Giving children the opportunity to make their cap their own is such a good way…
