Printable Valentine’s Day Math Activities

I’m back with some more Valentine’s day ideas! Math centers can be tricky because we want children to enjoy the activities and WANT to do them, while also being able to use the materials independently. Here’s what’s in my Valentine’s Day math center:

It doesn’t get more exciting than chocolate! This game is one that your students will definitely want to play – although you might have to monitor the game pieces or they’ll disappear. To play, children pick a candy and match the number on the bottom to the number on their mat. It can be done individually or you can print two sets and have a partner game. The printable comes with the mats and number stickers in two different colors to help keep things separate when more than one child is playing.

For some counting practice, these mats and cute counters can keep a preschooler busy for a LONG time! The numbers go up to 20 and each mat has the coordinating number of circles to help little ones be successful as they count. These heart counters are from the Dollar Tree (of course!) but foam stickers, erasers, or glass gems would work too. These mats can also be printed and used with dot markers as a guided lesson plan activity. Here’s a link to them!

These printable numbers can be used SO MANY different ways! The numbers have hearts that correspond with the numeral, so children can count them to help figure out which number it is to support number recognition. Children could also use clothespins on these. The set comes with 10 frames that are color coded to match the numerals. If you already have a lot of materials in your math center then these could be a perfect decorative display for this area too.

I’ve also included a box of valentine necklaces and rings that can be sorted by color, and a really cute felt tic tac toe game. I’m pretty sure I picked it up in the Target dollar spot, but it would be super easy to make something similar.
