Preschool Halloween Materials
It’s October, and in my world that means it’s Halloween all month long! I’ve always loved to incorporate seasonal materials into the classroom. I think that really fits with the idea of creating a more home-like classroom environment. Many families incorporate seasonal decor into their homes, so it makes perfect sense to do the same at school. Here are some of the supplies and materials that I love to have on hand because there are so many different ways to use them. All links are affiliates! Large plastic bowls – These can serve so many purposes; toss beanbags into them for gross motor practice, store materials for activities, hold the…

Printable Classroom Decorations
I hope that Wednesday’s post on decorating the classroom for the holidays gave you some things to think over! I wanted to pop in and share a couple of printable decor sets that I have available to make life a little easier in case you’re ready to decorate and aren’t quite sure where to start. These are designed to be used for class parties, so they include items for stickers, cupcake picks, treat bag toppers, and a collaborative activity. The buntings and door decoration can be put up for a party day or for the whole season.

Thoughts on Decorating the Classroom for the Holidays
You know that I’m big on celebrating holidays – personally, and in the classroom – so it should come as no surprise that I’m a fan of decorating the classroom to support this. At the same time, I know this can be a little tricky. We want to acknowledge the things that are happening in children’s lives, while also being culturally appropriate and making sure to respect all families’ traditions. I’ll be the first to say that I’m not an expert in this area, but I definitely try to do my best! Children are coming into contact with holiday decor and displays in the real world, so it’s important to…

Aesthetic Classroom Ideas
I’m back with more ideas for your Amazon Big Deal Days! Today I’m focusing on the pieces that make a classroom feel like home – and let’s be real, we all spend as much time there (if not more) than we do at home. I firmly believe that a classroom should be both aesthetically pleasing AND functional. In my world that means well organized and super easy to use. Here are my pics for making an aesthetically beautiful classroom! (all links are affiliates, your support is TRULY appreciated!) I stumbled across this poster and it immediately become my favorite thing. It absolutely deserves a space of honor in any classroom…

Autumn decor for the classroom
My philosophy about the classroom environment is that the classroom should feel like home. We certainly spend an incredible amount of time there, and also, I like my students to be able to interact with the same kinds of things that they come into contact with at their own homes. Since I routinely decorate my own home for different seasons, it feels natural to me to decorate the classroom seasonally too. Over the years I’ve found that if I add a few seasonal pieces to my collection each year, it is more affordable. I also do a lot of DIYing to create decorative elements. Oriental Trading has become my go-to…

Color Palettes
I’ve written a lot about classroom design this week, so I wanted to share one of my favorite sites for inspiration, have you checked out Design Seeds?! Don’t click on that link unless you’ve got time to waste, because I guarantee that it will suck you in! The site is a collection of color schemes inspired by photographs. They are fascinating and I could spend hours exploring the different combinations. My favorite thing about the site is that it will let you choose a color, and then give you all of the different palettes that include that color. This makes it really easy to find color schemes that go with…

Friday Freebie – Open House Signs
Happy Friday! I’m all about natural decor for the classroom, I’ve shared this preference often! There’s one popular material that has made it’s way into my room in more ways that I ever could’ve imagined is burlap. It’s versatile, it’s pretty cheap (especially if you can find it at the home improvement store), and it holds up really well to children who are not always gentle. If you love burlap, and general rustic loveliness, this freebie is for you! These beautiful Open House Signs are from Allyson Sutton. It looks like she’s given you everything you need to organize your welcome back night. Even if you’ve already started school, make…
