  • Fun Stuff for a New Year Celebration

I know that New Year’s Eve has come and gone, but I love to welcome the children back to school after the holidays with a small New Year celebration.  It’s hard to come back to school after a break, especially since the last week of school before we left was all about celebrating the holidays. Coming back to the regular routine can be a little boring.  This is my way of helping make that transition a little more fun. Here are some of the things that I’ve come up with over the years to put out for the first week to ensure that we have something new to explore while…

  • Best Freebie Ever!

I know I’ve shared this resource on here before, but I found myself using it again today and thought I’d better tell you about it again. So here it is, my all-time favorite resource for preschool printables: Pre-K Packs from Over the Big Moon I discovered Over the Big Moon the first year that I taught preschool and since then I have used every single one of their Pre-K Packs in one way or another.  They are perfect for activity centers, holiday parties, take home activities, and even gifts for preschoolers.  There are 26 different themes, giving you plenty of options, some of the themes are seasonal, some are character…

  • Teacher Appreciation SALE!

Yep, you read that title right, Teachers Pay Teachers is having a sale in honor of Teacher Appreciation day.  This means that right now is the time to pick up what you need for the end of the school year, and start thinking forward to next too. My tradition on the blog is to share what’s on my wishlist before every sale – so you can see what I’m excited about purchasing and just maybe add a couple of things to your own wishlist too. Today is extra special because I’m linking up with Teaching in the Tongass to share wishlists from tons of different teacher bloggers!  Here’s what I’m…

  • Preschool activities for Christmas

I am all for helping out other teachers, we need to stick together, especially at this point in the year.  Right now, it’s extra difficult to keep the kiddos’ attention, and I fully believe that the best way to handle the holiday season is to embrace it fully.  Christmas is all they want to talk about, so why not use that theme to sneak in some learning. I thought I’d share all of my holiday freebies, along with the other great holiday resources from my store to give you all kinds of holiday activities to choose from right in one place.  There are a lot, so be sure to scroll…

  • Great games to play at circle time

I love to play games during circle time because they keep the children’s interest, but I still get to teach specific concepts through the games.  It’s a great way to make sure that I am getting time to do large group instruction, but the children think it’s a ton of fun.  Here are some of the games that I love to play, these can all be differentiated so that everyone gets to be challenged, but still successful;  Letter games – I use letter cards to play a ton of games, I usually start the year with capital letter cards, and as we explore letters and the children become comfortable with…

  • Summer fun in my store

I’ve worked with children in the summer since I was 15 years old, so I know how helpful it is to have fun, summer themed activities. One of my favorite units to do during the summer is related to ice cream – who doesn’t love ice cream?! my kids will do any activity that has to do with ice cream – even math and language activities that they otherwise wouldn’t be interested in. Over the years I’ve found a couple of activities that my students love, and will do willingly – without even realizing that they are learning.  These are the kind of activities that all teachers want to implement,…
