  • Summer fun – at home

Quick day trips are what make summer months memorable, but it’s impossible to take one every day.  What can you do to spice up those other summer days? Here are ten ideas for days when you have to stay home.  Whether its raining, too hot to go out, or you just need a lazy day, these ideas will keep the little ones busy so you don’t have to hear the infamous “I’m bored!”  These will also work great for special activities at daycare! 1. Build a fortThis is something that every child needs the opportunity to do, don’t you remember building forts? It couldn’t be easier, find some large blankets…

  • Summer fun – around town

The beginning of summer is great – warm weather, playing outside, and being just a little lazy is fun for a while, but it gets old quick!  I’ve put together a list of things that you can easily do with your children or students to keep the summer fun – not boring.  Today’s ideas are from “around town” which means you get to go explore! Depending on your area, some of these may be in walking distance, while others may be a farther trek.  If you aren’t sure about any of these resources, a quick internet search can tell you if there is something similar locally. 1. • June Currently

I love linking up with Oh Boy 4th Grade for Currently every month, and this month I am proud to say that I was on top of it, and remembered right away! Listening: Laura Santos has created an amazing resource called Teacher Creator’s Toolbox. Oh. My. Goodness.  This site is ah-mazing! She has tutorials for everything you could possibly need to know about designing and selling classroom resources (including all that legal stuff that you usually don’t learn until it’s too late…). I’m spending my first official week as a semi-self-employed person watching all of her tutorials so that I can implement everything that I learn right now, while I…

  • Friday Freebies

Yay for Friday! This is a big yay because it’s a three day weekend! If your students are anything like mine, the weather and promise of summer are making them a little antsy (again, yay for a three day weekend).  Many of my teacher friends get through this chaos by reminding themselves that there are only a couple of weeks left until summer break, they can make it through a couple more weeks.  That doesn’t work for me, I work at a year round child care center, I have my kiddos all summer long. I try to make sure that the summer is packed full of fun stuff and special…

  • My Summer Bucket List

Since the unofficial start of summer is this weekend, I figured it was time to sit down and share my absolute must-do’s for the summer, along with a few things that I want to try for the first time.   1. Spend the day at the lake. We live about an hour from Lake Erie, so this goes on my list every year. I would love to be there more often, I’m a total beach girl! 2. Fairs and festivals. I grew up in 4H, and my husband and I are 4H advisors, so if there’s a fair you can usually find us there. I love the atmosphere, and getting…
