We’ve gotten through the Easter holiday, and that usually means one thing – it’s time to nail down some details for preschool graduation. This is always one of the most bittersweet milestones. It’s such an honor to send little ones onto preschool and celebrate all of the growth that has happened over the past year (and often longer if they’ve been in your program for a while), but saying goodbye can be hard! Easter Art Projects
Here’s a collection of the art projects that we’ve been working on for Easter. The classics are classics for a reason, and the woven placemats were especially a hit! We used a mixture of shaving cream and white glue to paint these soft bunnies. For the bows we added a little food coloring. We also mixed some shaving cream and food coloring, then dipped paper egg cutouts to create swirled patterns on the eggs. Finally, we used the leftover strips from our placemats to make a paper chain. The colors are all super happy and the finished products remind me of my favorite projects from my own childhood. Building a Positive Mindset
I consider myself a naturally positive person, but the classroom can be a hard place to keep that going. Someone is always upset with someone else, there is always a mess somewhere, and I’m constantly having to change my plans. It takes a toll! When positivity doesn’t come naturally, there are some things that help me keep that positive mindset in the classroom. First and foremost, when I recognize that I’m struggling I make a conscious effort to find something (anything) positive that I can acknowledge. I had a different post planned for today, but it didn’t feel right to talk about building positivity in the classroom after the news of this week. Another shooting, at another elementary school. This should never happen, but nothing is changing and it’s easy to feel powerless. Right now I’m sending love and solidarity. Teachers can truly make anything happen if we do it together. March is always the hardest month for me – I want it to be spring, but it’s definitely not, we’re still dealing with lots of cloudy days, and we’ve been stuck inside with each other all winter – so it feels right to celebrate the end of this long month with a sale! Kids Road Trip Entertainment
When it comes to road tripping with kids, prepping items that will actually keep them entertained is VITAL. This is always where I put the majority of my energy while packing because I know that it’ll set the tone for the entire trip for everyone involved. As teachers, we all bring our own skills into the classroom – for me, that includes high levels of organization. It makes sense that this would also play a role in other parts of my life.
