Is your job your identity?
Who am I? I’ve been asking myself that A LOT lately. In other phases of life I’ve had a ready answer to that question. Usually it had a lot to do with my job at the time – I was a preschool teacher, a coach, someone who offered support to other educators, a curriculum developer, an entrepreneur. With each job change I’ve felt the pull to make sure my position or the organization that I work for doesn’t define who I am as a person. The question then becomes, “If I’m not defined by the job, what am I defined by?” Who am I? Honestly, I don’t quite know how…

These popsicles from pedialyte have the added bonus of the trusted hydration formula. Handwashing Routines for Preschool
Start the year out with healthy routines that are easy to follow all school year long! I’ve created some visual aids to use as reminders. I have a set for hand washing in general and a set for hand washing after blowing your nose. Each set includes sequencing cards, which fit into a pocket chart. They also have numbered sequencing cards which can be posted by the sink, or made into a ring book and hung where children can reach them easily. You can use them for memory and sequencing activities in addition to posting them in the classroom. I also made a set of writing prompts and discussion questions…

Fighting Back to School Germs
My daughter has been back in school for two and a half weeks – and she’s already brought home two different rounds of germs. We’ve all been feeling it, so fighting germs is the name of the game at this point. Here are some of the strategies that I’m leaning into to help get us through it, and hopefully build up some immunity! We’re really focusing on healthy meals. Our bodies need all the fruits, vegetables and protein that we can get to fight those germs. In addition to balanced meals, this focus is helping us work back into a more normal dinner schedule after a summer of eating at…

It’s ok to do NOTHING
Have you ever tried to do absolutely nothing? If you’re anything like me, it isn’t long before the voice starts – you know, that one that says “you should be doing something.” There’s always going to be a task that can be checked off of a to-do list, and errand that needs run, or something that needs cleaned. That’s just life. It’s ok to ignore that voice. In fact, sometimes its necessary to ignore that voice. Sit on the couch and watch terrible tv shows, go take a nap, sit outside and enjoy a sunset, take a slow walk. These are good for our spirits, and a valid form of…

Intentionality when things get busy!
It’s that time of year when we start seeing all of the lists – fall bucket lists, 800 things to make with pumpkin, autumn memories every family should make, how to have the most instagram-worthy fall – you know you’ve seen them. There’s a lot of pressure to do ALL THE THINGS. To be fair, a lot of these fall “things” are really fun. I love an apple orchard, pumpkin patch, and fall festival. But just because all of these things are a ton of un doesn’t mean that we have to do them all every single year. Life is busy, being intentional during those busy seasons makes a huge…
