Drawing on the go
We spend a ton of time on the go during the summer. Whether we’re exploring local parks, killing time before practice, or meeting friends at the farmers market we always end up having a little down time to draw. Over the years my daughter and I have filled sketchbook after sketchbook with drawings that end up serving as reminders of wonderful memories. Taking time to draw is a wonderful way to slow down, get a little meditative, and work through ideas. We draw the things that we see in front of us, or things that we want to remember. Is it really October if you don’t decorate a pumpkin? I have very specific rules about decorating pumpkins with young children – mainly NO PAINT and NO GLUE. I firmly believe that nothing that has to dry should ever be used on a pumpkin, because there is some kind of weird science that occurs and these things NEVER dry. Easter Egg Dye Art
Egg prices definitely have me rethinking the dying Easter egg tradition this year. BUT I have a great classroom alternative! I don’t love to dye eggs in the classroom typically because they just don’t end up getting eaten. I appreciate the process and all of the learning experiences (differences between raw eggs and hardboiled, dying sensory experiences, peeling dyed eggs, taste testing, etc.), but it definitely comes with a cost factor.
