Finding Joy in the Holiday Busy-ness
I don’t know about you, but I’ve reached that point in the holiday season where it’s hard to see past the busy. My to-do lists are taking over, so I’m really trying to pull back and remember what I love most about the Christmas season so that I can be intentional about adding a little more of that. It’s hard to make sure that you’re enjoying the holidays when you’re trying to do ALL THE THINGS. Speaking of all the things, I saw this as I was scrolling my Instagram feed the other day and it really stuck with me: That’s pretty profound – the idea of just stopping something…

What to buy a Preschooler for Christmas in 2022
Preschool is when gift giving really starts to feel like a challenge – preschoolers have opinions, lots of them, and they aren’t afraid to tell you what they think of your gift! This is also when children’s preferences become really strong, they know what characters and activities they like, they know which sweater is too itchy, and how many of a specific toy they already have. So what do you get a preschooler for Christmas??? Picking out a gift for a preschooler often requires knowing what they like, which is hard because this changes daily. There are some ideas that are universal though! That’s what I have for you today…

Infant Gift Guide 2022
Gift guides are my favorite posts of the year! Working with little ones means that we’re tuned into what they like, want, and need – and that makes us an excellent resource for anyone who is shopping for those little ones this year. Here are some of my favorite choices for infants, they’re so hard to buy for but choosing the best Christmas gifts for the infants in your life can feel like a real win! Just a reminder, these are affiliate links and I do receive a percentage of the sales, BUT I also truly love and support these products. If you’re looking for a gift that will help…

Amazing Teacher Gift Ideas for this Holiday Season
I’ve been working on my holiday shopping and the one gift that I always spend the most time selecting is a gift for my daughter’s teachers. After working for so many years as a teacher myself, I fully understand that there are certain things teachers don’t need any more of – they don’t need another coffee mug, teacher ornament, or lotion set. I want to make sure that I’m giving these amazing people something meaningful that really expresses how much our family appreciates them, while also still being something that they’ll actually use! Here are some of the holiday teacher gift ideas that I have in mind for the teachers…

Halloween Movement Ideas
It’s that time of year – Halloween classroom party time! I always loved these days, but I fully understand why some teachers don’t. The kids are already amped up, and then we give them sugar and take away the routine, what are we thinking?! Movement activities can be lifesavers for all of that pent up energy, so I thought I’d gather some excellent ones in one spot to save you a little sanity. Here are some options that’ll fit your party theme and get those wiggles out! Danny Go is always my daughter’s first pick, this is just one of his Halloween offerings: You can’t go wrong with GoNoodle, and…

Happy Friday! It was a long week – holiday weeks always feel long. Today’s freebie is one that you can stick away for next Valentine’s Day. This Valentine’s Day Family Project is from Teacher’s Breathing Space. I love the concept – send home a heart that the entire family can work together to decorate, and then display everyone’s project in the classroom. What a wonderful family engagement activity! Go download yours and have an amazing weekend!

Love Tree
There are a ton of ways that you could create a love tree. The basic idea is to take some kind of tree branch – or you could even decorate a small Christmas tree – and hang paper hearts from the branches, similar to a thankful tree that you might do for Thanksgiving, but in this case ask parents, family members and your students to write down the things or people that they love. It’s an easy enough way to create a visual of all the things and people that are important to us. I’ve got a little twist for you. Instead of just writing down the names of things…

Family Valentine Station
Valentine’s Day is the perfect holiday for celebrating families because it is all about love. Focusing on the love between family members is also a great way to make Valentine’s Day relevant for our youngest learners. I always spent a lot of time helping my students understand that Valentine’s Day is a special day where we get to make sure the people that we love know how much we love them. We would make valentine’s for our family members, friends, and the special people in our lives. I recently thought of a way to extend this that I wish I would have done when I was in the classroom –…
